Poetic Interlude - Page 6

  • ...and they lived happily ever after?

It was a dream come true,
With the prince of her dreams,
    Ariel was sailin’ through,

the ocean that was once her home,
Where with her frenz n sisters,
    She’d freely and happily roam.

    Adventurous and innocent, her traits,
    Which got her in trouble,
Like a fish to its bait.

Still, a darling of her father, Princess of the Sea,
    Beautiful and fair,
    Queen of Land to be.

A simple crush transformed her life,
    In love with a man,
She dreamed to be his wife.

Unfortunately she had no legs, but a heart, sad,
    And beautiful fins and tail,
She wished she never had had.

Her sadness reflected in her father’s eyes,
Pained to see her like this,
Triton thought t’was puppy love, ‘n she, unwise.

Finally the sorrowful blue eyes, made him relent,
to a wave of his scepter on Ariel’s tail,
A magic he hoped, he doesn’t repent.

Twinkling eyes, and a pristine wedding gown,
A beautiful boat and wedding ceremony,
The amounts of food and wine gulped down,

were enough to make her feel satisfied,
    ‘N unregretful of her sacrifice,
So, she’d bade her only acquaintances her final goodbye.

She’s headed towards land, an unfamiliar territory,
With only Eric and her adventurous spirit,
To trust, ‘n save her from any major worry.

She’d listened to her heart and took the decision,
But how long would the momentary joy,
Continue to cloud her lifelong vision?

Shouldn’t she have listened to her mind?
‘N not thought of a stranger from yesterday,
As an extension of her family so kind.

Well till she axes her feet, she won’t miss her tail,
She cannot imagine a world without Eric,
Or how listening to her heart could make her fail?

So, let her be deaf in laughter and its sound,
If not on Eric and her adventurous self,
On her family’s prayers ‘n God’s blessings she can count!

  • She loves me, she loves me not

medium_gal_in_mirror.jpgWorking hard, she’s doing all fine,

Busy at work from nine to nine,

She might ignore her health, and at times also friends,

In the world, away from it, are her happy moments,

Pride of her family, apple of their eyes,

She doesn’t need answers to life’s “Whys?”

    She gained confidence and self-respect,

She realizes, life couldn’t have been more perfect,

Success is incidental, and makes her smile,

She’s putting in her bit, so her life’s worthwhile!

Smiling faces, twinkling eyes are all she can see,

Oh, this world is just the right place for her to be.

She’s got potential; she’s tapping it all right,

Life, like this, and there can be no fight.

Hard worker, oh she’s one of them,

So, finally happy with Me and not at all glum!

Oh she loves me, she definitely does,

But what, when life’s not thus?

There seems no work, that demands her attention,

Talk of significant people misses her mention,

What does health mean? she loses all its concern,

She’s soon forgetting all that she took time to learn.

Family still supports her, friends still say “Hi”,

‘Now’, it seems is the best time to die.

Others may respect her but, she’s losing it for herself,

There isn’t any more ‘Confidence’ attached to ‘Self’.

She can’t put in any efforts, she’s afraid to try,

Tap of her potential, is now running dry.

Life’s upsetting and the world is a sad place,

     Inhaling sobs, she’s exhaling disgrace!

Guess she needs a doctor, she should see a shrink,

But nothing shall help, she knows, when sits down to think.

There’s no one else she wants to blame,

But, ‘Mirror’, to her mind comes the only name.

Yeah, she doesn’t love me anymore,

Rather blame, other options she should explore!

    As of now, it’s a love-hate relationship,

Love me when life’s high; hate me when it’s taking a dip.

But am I to be blamed, the one responsible?

“No” is the answer from any person a little sensible.

‘She’ is the culprit, any which way you see,

I’m just a reflection of how she chooses to be.

In the ever truthful mirror, as an image I reside,

At all times, it’s Me by her side!

I guess she should just love me, the way I do,

Life uncertain, the world unjust, only my love is true!

  • My raison d'etre!

From as far back as my memory goes,
The day on Mother Earth I set my toes,
Numerous things for me have been done,
I have been special and treated like one,
    Forever protected from various dangers,
Saved from the prying eyes of strangers,
Been allowed to enjoy my presents on earth,
But while ensuring that I realize their worth,
From the pram1, tricycle, bike and car,
I have been safe in the journey so far,
With moments of tension and those of worry,
No major events which’d make me sorry,
Seasons have changed and years passed,
The whole transition has been pretty fast,
I can smile when I look back at yesterday,
Each night of gloom showed way to a happy day.

‘Tis just because of You, You and your kind self,
Your my raison’d’etre, actually, my life itself!
Keep me with You forever, and never go away,
That I’m alone with my shadow, there is no day.
Answer my and others’ prayers, like You’ve so far done,
When I know You’re kind to all, I’m not the only one!
